TelecomWeb: Nortel Took the Lead in Volatile Voice/Unified Messaging Market
PR Web February 7, 2007 Parsippany, NJ In the new “1H 2006 InfoTrack for Converged Applications Messaging Report”, InfoTech’s new analysis of voice and unified messaging CPE shipments shows Nortel assumed the Number One global position in shipments (26%) and revenues (31%) in first-half 2006. Avaya and Alcatel led in terms of shipments in CALA and EMEA, respectively.
On a global basis, the industry grew by almost 10% in the first half of 2006. While APAC and EMEA showed the greatest growth rate, CALA was negative. Growth in North America exceeded previous expectations, with manufacturer revenues of more than $250 million.
Unified messaging mailbox shipments (including upgrades from voice-only mailboxes) were fewer than 15% of the total worldwide market but reached 18% in the United States.
This study analyzed results from 18 major manufacturers on a global basis. The report includes:
- Total messaging mailboxes and subtotals/market-share percentages for voice-only and unified-messaging mailboxes by manufacturer
- Manufacturer revenues for total messaging mailboxes and subtotals/market-share percentages for voice-only and unified-messaging mailboxes
- Shipments in terms of mailboxes and systems broken out by size category for all manufacturers in all regions
- Messaging mailbox attach rates (comparing telephony line shipments to shipments of associated mailboxes)
”The results showed that this market does not move in a steady upward fashion and certainly not by region. Promotions, end-of-life announcements and regional growth hot-spots, make this a dynamic market, affecting not only growth, but manufacturers’ rankings,” comments Ken Dolsky, program director for InfoTech’s new InfoTrack for Converged Applications program.
The list of manufacturers covered in the report includes:
- Nortel
- Avaya
- Cisco
- Alcatel
- Active Voice
- Panasonic
- Toshiba
- Siemens
- Samsung
|
- AVST
- Mitel
- Inter-tel
- 3Com
- Shoretel
- Vodavi
- Teleware
- Ericsson
- Iwatsu
