Digium Asterisk Class Teaches The Basics
Asterisk developer Digium has a new entry-level training course – Asterisk Fast Start – aimed at providing an introduction to Asterisk, telephony and the Linux environment.
Participants will be exposed to the installation, configuration and the basic operation of Asterisk, with the course taking them through all the steps from a freshly installed Linux computer to a fully configured and working Asterisk implementation, Digium says.
Upon completion of the course, participants reportedly will be able to:
>>Install and run Asterisk on any computer and act as an Asterisk administrator; and
>>Configure Asterisk to deliver such basic PBX functionality as basic call routing, voice mail and directory services.
Those who complete the class also will be able to describe the telephony connections that Asterisk supports along with identifying Digium hardware that supports such connectivity.
“We are pleased to offer an intensive, introductory overview to Asterisk – the most widely used open-source telephony project,” says Rod Montgomery, director of services for Digium. “We’ve asked David Duffett of TeleSpeak Ltd., an Authorized Training Partner in the United Kingdom, to create Asterisk Fast Start in response to requests from the Asterisk community for an introductory offering. This new course complements our current training offerings that are geared toward every level of expertise.”
Those signing up for the class will receive a student kit complete with a Polycom IP telephone and Digium interface cards. The first Asterisk Fast Start class will kick off Oct. 13, offered by Duffett in Oxford, England.
